Game 4

Under 19 Boys

New Zealand v South Africa

Any comments on our coverage? Please take a couple of minutes to leave some of your thoughts in our GUESTBOOK

While there was some good batting and fielding on show in this game, some of the bowling was top-shelf. New Zealand posted a lower score than it looked like they were going to, but defended it particularly well. South Africa were 9 runs ahead with an over to go, so the game still wasn't decided. But the South Africans finished well, and despite losing a wicket off the last ball went on to win.

This was a close game, and both sides showed they are capable of playing great cricket. We still wouldn't like to pick a winner in this division . . . or any come to think of it. Maybe in a day or two . . .

Batting pairs (and the runs they scored off their own bats) were:

New Zealand:
Sheary (-1) and Dixon (18); Stevens (15) and Hegglun (13); Gleeson (18) and Hyslop (11); and Weight (3) and Istead (3).

South Africa:
Roux (7) and Q. Lubbe (24); Bloem (23) and Mollendorf (11); Calaca (-8) and M. Lubbe (13); and Hulme (10) and Kleinhans (15).
