The South African Girls have already secured their place in the Grand Final, but there was no way they were going to take it easy in this one--evidenced perhaps by the fact that their 'keeper, de Buys, injured herself throwing back to the stumps in the 13th over. She kept on, but was obviously in an increasing amount of pain. Eventually she had to leave the court for treatment to her back, and wasn't able to bat. We hope her recovery is quick and she rejoins her team before the finals.

But the South African contingent are in no way using de Buys' injury as any sort of excuse--they were beaten on the day, and beaten well. The finals of this division are shaping up as something out of the ordinary, perhaps the highlight of the series.

And in the meantime, the New Zealand Girls have won their first International game. And I suspect they like the feeling so much, they want more. And they just might know the feeling again before this tournament is over.
